TITUSVILLE, Pa –This past year at the Education & Training Center at Pitt-Titusville has been transformative, marked by a series of impactful initiatives and celebrations.
Rebranding and launching in March 2024, the Pitt-Titusville Hub was officially renamed as the Education & Training Center at Pitt-Titusville. Rebranding included a new name, logo, and signage symbolizing a renewed focus on providing comprehensive education and training opportunities to the community.
A major highlight of the year was the approval of a $10-million project that brings significant renovations for the J. Curtis McKinney II Student Union and Gymnasium. This renovation project will accommodate moving the Manufacturing Assistance Center (MAC) workshop on campus, as well as provide renovated partner classrooms, a makerspace, and room for the arts. This project aims to enhance the center’s capacity to offer education and training in precision manufacturing, CNC programming, as well as foster additional technical skills. The makerspace will help to foster exciting new opportunities between the arts and manufacturing.
“We are excited about the opportunities offered at ETC,” said Dr. Stephanie Fiely, executive director of the Education & Training Center. “Our partners are working together with business and industry to ensure we are meeting workforce needs. Every student who completes a program at ETC is prepared with the skills needed to find gainful employment. It’s vital that we all continue to work together to support education, training, and the workforce to make a positive impact in our region.”
Starting in January, ETC launched pre-apprenticeship programs in basic machining and CNC operations thanks to a two-year, $199,000 state grant, funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development’s Manufacturing Training to Career Grant program. These programs are designed to equip participants with essential skills, fostering a skilled workforce ready to meet the demand of local industries.
ETC continued to expand its offerings with new programs and partnerships. Notably, the 2023 introduction of the Brockway Center for Arts & Technology’s medical assistant and phlebotomy dual certification has grown year over year. This program is offered free to qualifying students, and it highlights the center’s dedication to addressing healthcare workforce needs and providing accessible education.
“NPRC is a proud partner of ETC,” said Susie Snelick, president, Northern Pennsylvania Regional College. “While we continue to offer our associate degrees on campus, we also offer a variety of workforce development courses to meet critical employer needs. To that end, we are anxious to offer our Certified Nursing Assistance Program at ETC Pitt-Titusville. This program has been under development for some time and is very close to launch. We also look forward to our flex space in the Student Union once the renovation is complete. At ETC we will offer a variety of courses from EMS to Industrial Maintenance continuing to meet the community’s needs. NPRC celebrates the success of this past year in collaboration with our partners and looks forward to the opportunities in 2025!”
Fiely said, “ETC is committed to providing high-quality education and training programs that meet the evolving needs of the regional workforce. Through strategic partnerships and innovative programs, ETC aims to empower individuals to Go…Succeed in their chosen paths.”
