New Education and Training Hub is launched

The Education and Training Hub at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville was officially launched on Friday, Oct. 4.

Representatives from the organizations collaborating to develop the new hub signed a memorandum of understanding, which officially launched the new model. Participating in the signing was Dr. Joseph T. Nairn, founding president of the Northern Pennsylvania Regional College; Kevin Jenkins, CEO of Manchester Bidwell Corp., Dr. Catherine Koverola, Pitt-Titusville president; and Dr. Ann E. Cudd, University of Pittsburgh provost and senior vice chancellor.

During a presentation immediately following the signing, the officials updated the campus and surrounding community on the progress of the hub, which will launch in August 2020.

“We are celebrating the launch of the hub, and we are all so excited,” Koverola said during the presentation.

Cudd said, “The future here is bright. This is going to be great. This is a time in higher education when we cannot continue with business as usual. We need to be bold, nimble and creative. The residents in the community need more.”

“This is really a great day,” Cudd continued, “and I’m delighted and privileged to be here to help you celebrate.”

Several others also offered updates during the presentation, including representatives from the hub’s three partners as well as Bill Strickland, founder and executive chairman at Manchester Bidwell; Rob Beatty, facility manager at Pitt’s Manufacturing Assistance Center; Rick Esch, vice president for business affairs at Pitt-Titusville; and Karen Enos, hub interim executive director.
